"Explore the Ultimate Guide to Summer Showcase Descriptions: Find Your Perfect Fit!


For the Love of Selena 

Tuesday's 5-7 P.M.





Selena Quintanilla-Pérez known professionally as Selena, was an American singer. Referred to as the queen of Tejano Music (A popular music style fusing Mexican and US influence.) Some may refer to as Tex-Mex. This action packed showcase has something for everyone.



Vocalist:

To perform Selena need more than the sound, you need charisma. This showcase will develop your Spanish skills, Train you to take command of the stage while bringing the heat. Also a great intro show to learn the art of background singing. All levels are approved.


Guitarist:

There’s something for every level of guitarist here. One song you’re playing lead guitar, another songs you’re playing rhythm guitar. It’s all about feeling the music and internalizing the groove.


Bassist:

There’s plenty groovy moving lines for you. It would be difficult to play this music without dancing along. All levels welcome


Percussion:

Weather you’re a beginner or intermediate there’s plenty opportunity to develop your Latin-Grooves and rhythm. Each percussion instrument is important from the shakers - drum kit.


Keys:

This is a great showcase for beginner- intermediate levels. The keys are the icing on the cake in this showcase. Wether you’re playing synthesized parts or doubling the brass it’s defiantly a vital part in the music.





Queen-essentials

Monday's 5-7 P.M.



Regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of rock music, he was known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range. Mercury defied the conventions of a rock frontman with his theatrical style, influencing the artistic direction of Queen.


Vocalist:

The vocals for this showcase are not for the faint of heart. You want a healthy challenge and want to develop your Rock star skills? This is the showcase for you. All levels are welcome


Guitarist:

Intermediate to Advanced level skills welcome. Not only will your learn how to be a lead as a guitarist, you’ll learn how to share leads as guitarist. Plenty solo duos  and guitar -monies.


Bassist:

It’s a misconception that bassist stay in the background. John Deacon actually wrote several songs for Queen. With that being said don’t believe your parts are boring but the bass is driving and very active in this show. Best for Intermediate - Advanced Levels



Percussion:

As a drummer, Taylor was recognized early in his career for his unique sound. He performed on Queen’s albums from the beginning and often composed songs by himself or co-wrote them with Brian May (Guitar). He contributed three UK hits: “These Are The Days Of Our Lives,” Innuendo, and Under Pressure, along with many more Queen’s hits. This is a great showcase for all levels but come ready to work hard.


Keys:

Best for intermediate - Advanced Levels. This is a showcase where you can play simplistic parts and then a minute later have some dramatic parts. Freddy was more than a singer, he was a pianist. Combine Freddy and Spike Edny and you’ve got some rock piano master pieces.



The Originals

Wednesday's 5-7 P.M.



The time has finally come, we’re having a season of writing original music and performing covers that inspired the music written.  This class is part of the selective program and students wanting to participate have to be approved to participate. In this class you’ll learn the following:

  • Music Analysis

  • Theoretical Analysis

  • Functional Harmony

  • Melodic leads and accompaniments

  • Collaborative writing

  • Basic orchestration (Instrumental learning and the instruments abilities)


All instruments are welcome!
