    Welcome to the Major scale section of the online course. Why are scales important? Music has a key that it's played in, scales are used in music all the time. You use scales to play fancy melodies and can add cool riffs and tricks to music. This even allows you the ability to improv when jamming out. Take notice the scales are taught in a specific order. (The Circle of Fifths) Each scale adds a sharp. Ex: C=0 sharps G=1sharp (F#) D = 2 Sharps (F#, C#) A = 3 Sharps (F#,C#,G#) E = 4 Sharps (F#,C#,G#,D#) B = 5 Sharps (F#,C#,G#,D#, A#) F = 1 Flat (B-Flat)
