Artfinix Studios: Adult Programming Music Classes
Curriculum: 12-Week Beginner Level
Week 1-4: Music Theory Fundamentals
Basic Music Notation:
Staff, notes, clefs, time signatures
Rhythmic patterns and counting
Scales and Intervals:
Major and minor scales
Intervals (whole, half, etc.)
Key Signatures and Chords:
Major and minor keys
Triads and inversions
Music Theory Exercises:
Sight-reading, ear training, and rhythm practice
Week 5-8: Instrument Fundamentals
Instrument Selection:
Choosing the right instrument based on interests and goals
Proper Technique:
Posture, hand position, and finger placement
Basic exercises and scales
Repertoire:
Simple songs and pieces in the chosen instrument's style
Instrument-Specific Techniques:
Strumming patterns (guitar), bowing techniques (violin), finger placement (piano), etc.
Week 9-12: Ensemble Playing and Music Appreciation
Ensemble Formation:
Creating small groups (duos, trios, etc.)
Learning to play together and harmonize
Music Appreciation:
Exploring different genres and styles
Understanding the history and cultural context of music
Performance Preparation:
Preparing a short performance or recital
Stage presence and performance etiquette
