Class: Piano Ensemble
Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Duration: 12 Weeks
Class Format: 2 Hours/Week
Each week, our classes are divided into two engaging sessions:
Hour 1: Music Theory and Analysis: Dive deep into the building blocks of music, exploring concepts like scales, chords, and key signatures. Gain a solid understanding of musical structure and theory.
Hour 2: Instrument-Specific Repertoire: Apply your newfound knowledge to practical instrument playing. Work on a variety of repertoire pieces, honing your technique and developing your musical expression.
Week 1-4: Building a Foundation
Basic Music Theory:
Staff notation
Note values and rhythms
Major and minor scales
Basic chord structures (major, minor, and 7th chords)
Piano Techniques:
Proper hand positioning and posture
Basic chord progressions
Hanon exercises for finger dexterity
Week 5-8: Ensemble Playing
Ensemble Repertoire:
Simple ensemble pieces (duets, trios, quartets)
Focus on blending, timing, and dynamics
Explore different musical styles (classical, jazz, pop)
Ensemble Coordination:
Counting and keeping time
Listening and responding to other players
Week 9-12: Performance and Advanced Techniques
Advanced Techniques:
Arpeggios
Inversions
Syncopation
Performance Preparation:
Rehearsal for a final performance
