Band Rehearsal Follow-Up + Next Weekâs Assignment
Greetings Musicians,
I had the pleasure of rehearsing with you yesterday. There were many great moments, and we were able to fine-tune several areas together. Below are a few important principles I want to bring to your awareness:
Confidence matters. You are playing the correct material, but some of you are second-guessing yourselves. Rememberâwhat you play contributes to the overall sound. When you play without intention, it forces your bandmates to compensate.
Play your full part. Your educators are teaching you the correct repertoire. However, Iâve noticed a few of you simplifying your parts, hoping it goes unnoticed. We see itâand more importantly, youâre only short-changing your own growth.
Be a band, not individuals. There are more than two people on stage. Make eye contact with every member of your band. Without visual connection, the tempo can drift and the music can fall apart.
Assignment for next week:Review the Round 2 material. This is our top priority. Perfection isnât expected yet, but you should be able to confidently play through each song and hold your own part.
Reminder:Our showcase is on January 17th at Jonny Cabs in Burr Ridge. Itâs crunch time! Weâll begin running your full set list in showcase order so you can get comfortable with the flow of the performance.
Best,
Brandon
