Welcome to R&B & Hip-Hop Evolution, a dynamic, genre-blending ensemble directed by Sam. This group class takes students on a musical journey from classic Soul and R&B foundations to today’s Hip-Hop and Pop hits, highlighting how timeless grooves continue to shape modern music. Through focused rehearsal and performance, students will explore the art of sampling, interpolation, and musical transformation across generations.
This ensemble connects past and present by pairing original Soul and R&B classics with their contemporary counterparts, allowing students to perform both sides of the musical lineage. Participants will deepen their understanding of groove, feel, phrasing, and cultural context while developing strong ensemble skills and stage presence. The experience celebrates musical heritage while showcasing how innovation builds upon tradition.
