Songwriting Next Steps 🎶 10/29/25

Greetings Writers,

First, I want to say how proud I am of the direction things are moving! I know this process is new and can sometimes feel challenging, but that’s part of growing as a creative artist. You’re stepping into new territory — and I’m excited to see how your ideas continue to take shape.

🌟 Recap from Last Week

Last week, we made great progress by narrowing down:

  • The overall direction and meaning of the song

  • The form and structure

  • The rhythmic feel

  • And even some of the harmonic progressions

Keep this momentum going! Continue writing down new ideas and come to rehearsal ready to share any inspiration that came to you during the week.

Also, remember to watch the videos shared in the online section more than once. Each time you view them, you’ll pick up on new details that can help strengthen your songwriting skills.

🎵 Next Steps (for Tomorrow)

Tomorrow, we’ll take a deeper look into:

  • Creating a motif or riff

  • Understanding how it fits into your songwriting process

I’ll attach a video for you to watch before rehearsal — make sure to take time to view it carefully.

✍️ Individual Song Assignment

Since we’ve already combined many of your ideas into one group song, it’s now time for each of you to begin writing your own individual song. As a group, we’ll listen, share feedback, and help each other shape these ideas into something special.

Here’s your creative framework:

  1. Theme: Your song should be a message of encouragement.

  2. Topic: Identify a conflict or challenge that affects you personally (something you’re comfortable sharing and discussing).

  3. Message: Imagine you’re talking to a friend or family member who’s going through that same situation.

    • What advice would you give them?

    • What positive message would you want to hear?

  4. Action Step: Journal your thoughts in your notebook and be ready to discuss them next week (not tomorrow).

🎧 For Tomorrow’s Rehearsal

Tomorrow, we’ll start recording individual parts and loading them into our music software. Please fine-tune your lyrics and ideas tonight and come prepared to record after our motif/riff discussion.

Keep writing, keep dreaming, and keep creating.Every idea you bring in helps build something amazing — together.

See you tomorrow,

Brandon
